The American Mathematics Competition (AMC) is a series of exams that aim to foster critical problem-solving skills and select talented students in math. AMC is often viewed as a critical entrance experience that can help when students compete in national olympiads and international olympiads.

Age: Grade 8 and below, participants need to be below 15 years old.
25 multiple choice questions with 40 minutes, no penalty for wrong answers.
Key subject areas: Middle school math, including probability, estimation, percentages, spatial visualization, and interpreting graphs.

Age: Grade 10 and below, participants need to be below 17 years old.
25 multiple choice questions, 75 minutes, no penalty for wrong answers.
Key subject areas: High school mathematics up to grade 10, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, counting, probability and number theory.

Age: Grade 12 and below, participants need to be below 19 years old.
25 multiple choice questions, 75 minutes, no penalty for wrong answers.
Key subject areas: All of high school mathematics, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, counting, probability, and number theory. No calculus required.

This is an invitation only competition where the top scoring students in AMC 10/12 are invited to complete 15 open response questions. The questions are much more difficult than the AMC, requiring deep thinking and advanced techniques.
15 open response questions in 3hours, all answers are integers between 0 to 999, no penalties for wrong answer.
Approximately 6,000-7,000 students qualify each year, representing the top tier of AMC scorers.
